There is a new Junior High that is starting: San Tan Christian Academy. The people who are starting it are great! I know them through my mom who met them while working at Chandler Christian School. So I was happy when they approached me to do their logo. They were wanting something young and cool, but still professional. I think the cross within the circle yells "young" and the text for San Tan and for Christian Academy yell "professional". I think we got a good mix!

My brother and sister-in-law have their own business doing real estate marketing. They go in and take pictures of homes and put them on MLS. So they wanted something professional and they wanted a picture of down town phoenix in it. This was their favorite!

Steve of Steve Grant Photography is my first client that came to me through the AZPPA meetings ( I just became a vendor for AZPPA). He wanted a watermark that he could put on his images. He wanted something elegant but still masculine and he wanted to incorporate a tree or leaves of some sort. So here's the one he chose. I'm glad he chose this one, it was my favorite!

Here is an event flyer for Luminous Productions. They host events and parties through out the USA. I first came into contact with Janice because her business partner, Rico, used to play baseball with my husband, and they needed a logo and business card design. So I'm happy that they are coming back for more!! Oh and the girl in the flyer is Jamie Ross from VH1's Rock of Love. I have never seen that show, so I have no idea who she is....but maybe you will????

It's my new favorite thing! It's an online radio, where you can type in an artist and will play music from that artist as well as other artists that are in the same genre! I'm loving it, and I'm hearing lots of really good songs that I haven't heard before. You should check it out!

Some Tips and Tricks for Great Album Designs

As wedding season is gearing up, I just wanted to offer some tips and tricks to help make your albums stand out from the crowd and make an impact.

The absolute number one thing that will help the most:

DON'T LET BRIDES PICK THE IMAGES THAT WILL GO INTO THE ALBUM!

You may be gasping but, most brides don't understand the flow of a great album. They usually pick images that are very similar in pose, or they pick tons of images of themselves and one of the groom, or they pick lots of family images and only two images of the couple together! Albums are the best when the story of their special day is being told. When random images are picked it makes the album feel pieced together.

My suggestion is to send us the best 100 images (that number may change depending on number of sides) and let us pick and choose which images will go together on each spread. If you still want your bride to have a say, let them pick their 10 favorite images for the album- and we'll pick the rest!

The second thing that will help, is thinking about the album when shooting {not like you don't have enough to think about already}.

*Take detail shots- shots of the rings together, flowers, table centerpieces, etc. These make great background images.

Sometimes having a panoramic image that spreads across 2 sides is beautiful and makes a great impact.

Taking a series of images- if the bride and groom are seeing each other before the ceremony; getting shots of them walking up to each other and hugging for the first time seeing each other. Or if the groom picks up the bride and spins her around, it's nice to have a few images showing the interaction between the couple.

Last but not least- this is typically how we like to layout albums to tell the story of the day. Usually 4-6 images per a spread is the best:

Photo shoot last weekend

So, obviously I'm not a professional photographer, but ever since high school I have been doing photography as a hobby. I had some ideas in my head for a photo shoot that I wanted to do, so last weekend I went out and did it! Here's how they turned out. These models are all my friends and I'm pretty proud to say that I got some hot friends! I've know Adam (the guy in the middle) since I was 11, we were best friends growing up. I've know Holly (the girl at the bottom) since I was 4!! Crazy how fast life goes by! They were so great to work with and we had a blast, that I'll probably do another shot with them! Enjoy!

It's been a while since I updated! But here I am, and I'm wanting to tell all you photographers about senior albums! They are a perfect way to market and advertise! Seniors love these albums and they'll show it off to all their friends and family. You can get your work in front of lots of people easily! All you would need is a small album to create the buzz- like a 5x5 or 8x8- 12 sides. Here's an example I did for Wendy Newman Designer Portraits.

Take a look at the newest style of album that is available to professional photographers: Textures & Embellishments. If you're trying to reach your higher end clients, this is the album style you need! It applies textures to both the images and the backgrounds. It has a modern layout as far as picture placement, but still looks full and layered because of the textures. It was really fun to do! Thanks to our newest client (but old friend) Studio 7 Photography. If you're interested in getting this style of album, let me know! Because it takes more time, it will be $7.50 per side, rather than the regular pricing of $5.50 per side.
